  • Prepared Mixes

    Class 15

    Here is an opportunity for everyone to enter - This enables you to use any of the mixes on the shelf. Maybe there is a new mix on the market. Why not create something new? This is an opportunity you have been waiting for!

    The only requirements are:

    1. Use a 'mix" but "doctor" it up to your choosing

    2. Bring your recipe on a card, telling what ingredients were used and the method of preparing.

    Lot:

    100 Cake: 4" square / 1/4 cake

    200 Frozen Bread: 1/2 loaf / 3 rolls / 1/4 ring

    300 Any other: 1/2 loaf / 3 muffins / 3 bars / 3 cookies

    Use the Fair Entry to enter your creation!

    1st Prize: Blue Ribbon + $6.00

    2nd Prize: Red Ribbon + $5.00

    3rd Prize: White Ribbon + $4.00

  • unfrosted Banana Cake

    Submit on Entry Day: Tuesday, August 6, 2024 between 9:00am - 3:00pm

    Judging starts at 6:00pm

    Adult Contest 18 & Older

    Kids Contest 8-17 Years Old

    Contest Rules:

    1. Entry must be made for "scratch"

    2. A minimum of 1/4 cup of sugar must be used in the recipe

    3. Entry must be submitted as a minimum of 3 slices of banana cake on a disposable plate

    4. No frosting

    5. Recipe listing the ingredients and preparation instructions must be submitted with the entry, printed on one side of half sheet.

    ADULT and KID Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place from the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop.

    to be held at the Log Cabin on the front apron (new Location)

    1st Place: $100.00 + Ribbon

    2nd Place: $75.00 + Ribbon

    3rd Place: $50.00 + Ribbon

    4th Place: $25.00 + Ribbon

    1. Entry should be 8 cookies displayed on a disposable plate.

    2. NO mixes

    3. Entries to be judged on appearance and taste by a panel of judges

    4. Recipes for entry must be made available at the time of entry

    5. Contest open to any amateur baker: male or female, any age

    6. Limit of one entry per exhibitor.

    7. Entries to be entered at the Log Cabin between 10-11am

    8. Judging will take place at 11:30am

    9. Prizes will be awarded at completion of judging

    Recipe Rules:

    1. Submit recipe, neatly typed or printed, on a card or paper, one side only

    2. Name of recipe first

    3. List all ingredients in specific amounts

    4. Give method, giving bowl/pan size and oven temperature and baking time

    5. Include name, address, and daytime phone number

  • No Pre-Registration required.

    Saturday, August 10 beginning at 9:30am in the annex of the 4-H Show Arena

    Official Contest Rules

    Use your own Lego, Duplo, Mega Blocks or other Lego compatible plastic brick

    Entries must be your own creation, not a Lego designed kit, project found online, in a magazine, etc.

    Use your imagination and be creative

    Bring your building blocks to the Kids Day Tent (next to the Haug Bldg.) on Saturday, August 10 by 9:45am. Building begins at 10am and goes until 11:30am.

    Assembly base plates are encouraged

    Nothing can be pre-assembled. Creation must be built on site

    Judging with start at 12 Noon

    Winners will be announced at 12:30pm.

    Public Viewing will follow the announcing of prizes.

  • Theme: Giants in the Garden

    Judging for 1st prize of $25.00, will be by the people's choice during the Fair

    Entries are encouraged to follow in some way with the garden theme

    Entries will be received at the secretaries office on entry day, Tuesday, August 7, 2024 from 9am-3pm.

    Pick up should be arranged before Fair closure with the Master Gardeners

    Entries are on a volunteer basis

    Master Gardeners reserves the right to deny any entry deemed offensive

    Master Gardeners are not responsible for entries

    The contest is unaffiliated with the University of Minnesota Extension

  • Friday, August 9

    Weigh-In from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Pull begins at 6:30pm. Late fee of $10.00 per tractor after 6:00pm.

    Pre-registration is not required but greatly appreciated. Please fill out the form below.

  • Wednesday, August 7 during the intermission of the Great Frontier Bull Riding Event. Registration will be held at the back of the bucking chutes beginning at 6pm.

    First 15 kids will get to ride.

  • THE Barrel Racing event is full!

    Thursday, August 8 during the intermission of the Great Frontier Bull Riding event.

    Pre-Registration is Required.

    Please submit your information below. You will be notified if your in the top riders for the event.

    A limit of 15 riders, with a wait list, will be accepted.
